Brotherly Love

Brady was sitting on my lap in the family room giving me some hugs, and Smiles was standing by the train table, playing with whatever was on the table. Brady then looked at Smiles and then at me and said:

"I love Smiles too, Mommy. Smiles is my best friend. I love my best friend, Smiles."

So sweet and brought a smile to his Mommy's face. I then reinforced to him how special and important it is that he loves his brother - now and forever, and that it is wonderful that they are best friends.

My parents always reminded me that family is so important. Family is always there for you - mine always was and still is. This is something that I want to pass on to my boys.

What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?

A few days ago I was telling Brady how he and Smiles were an answer to my prayers and my heart's desire. I always knew that I wanted to be a Mommy when I grew up - and I am so blessed that I am a Mom and have two wonderful sons! This led into the following exchange between Brady (2 and 1/2 years) and me:

Me: "So, what do you want to be when you grow up Brady?"

Brady: (having a little smile on his face) "I want to be with you, Mommy."

So sweet - that made my heart melt!

Where's Indigo and Violet?

On Wednesday, the boys and I spent the day at my sister's house, which meant that they would be taking naps there too. We have not spent a day at her house in a very long time, so when Brady went into his cousin Jeter's room to sleep, he got so excited...

"Letter's on my wall" ( and he went and spelled Jeter's name)

There's rainbow! There's Tigger! There's...etc.

He looked at the rainbow that was painted on the wall and pointed at each color while saying, "Red, orange, lellow, green, blue," (pause as he looked at the purple and said), "Where's indigo and violet, Mommy? Where are they"

So, I had to explain that Aunt TCC had combined them and just made a purple color. That seemed to satisfy him.

I was amazed!!! He truly amazes me daily, and he is only two and a half!

Brady decides on a gift idea!

Today, I decided to show Brady the invitation to Barber's birthday party - which is this Sunday. I don't know why I decided to tell my two year old about a party that is 5 days away...but we had a cute conversation and I had a little bit of a laugh too.

After I showed Brady the very cool Lightning McQueen invitation, made by my sis, I asked him if he would like to go to the party on Sunday...(because he know the difference between Tuesday and Sunday!)...he immediately said, "Yes!" and ran over to the shoe rack, grabbed his shoes and was trying to put them on (without socks!).

What did I just do!!! Why did I tell him about the party already?! I went over to him and we sat on the bottom of the steps and I explained that the party was not today, but it was on Sunday, after church...he seemed to understand...thank God!

So, this led into a conversation about what we should give to Barber on his birthday:

Me: What should we get for Barber for his birthday?

Brady: PRESENT! (said enthusiastically)

Me: What type of present?

Brady: (Thinking really hard and then exclaims) GIFT!!

Me: What type of gift?

Brady: (More hard thinking) THINGIE!! (he is soooo excited about our conversation!)

Me: A thingie?

Brady: yes...SPOON!

Me: You want to get Barber a spoon for his birthday?

Brady: Yes! (he was playing with his play spoon and food earlier, so I guess that was still on his mind!)

So, Barber will be getting some type of present, gift, thingie, (or maybe even a spoon!) for his birthday! We will have to see what we find!
