I was a little skeptical when I first received the tube of Lip Conditioner from Carmex. It is like a lotion for your lips. I was wondering: Would it really condition my lips? Would it leave behind a residue on the edge of my lips? Would I like it? So, I decided to try it out.
I have been using it on my lips for about one week and I would have to say that my lips have been doing well in the cold weather that we have been experiencing - no chapping, peeling, etc. I wore it by itself and I also tried it under lipstick - it worked well both ways. The taste and smell of it is also pleasing to my senses - it almost tastes like an orange creamsicle! YUM!
I will continue to use it so that my lips stay nice and smooth. I have not tried it on lips that are already chapped, so I cannot really comment on its ability to heal lips...hopefully, I will not have to experience that! However, if my lips do become chapped, I will be trying this Lip Conditioner on them!
Disclaimer: Carmex contacted me and provided me with the product to review, however all comments/ideas/opinions that I shared are completely mine.

A Giveaway from Clearblue
Update: and the winner is comment #6 - Laura! Congrats!
Pregnant or not?
If you have been trying to get pregnant or had a "surprise blessing", you know that one way to confirm whether you are pregnant or not is by purchasing a pregnancy test. Those tests have a high accuracy rate and I know that I have purchased various brands in the past when I needed to find out the answer to my question!
I was recently contacted from Clearblue to host a giveaway on my blog...and with prices rising for everything - this is a great giveaway (well, if you are still in the age bracket to conceive)! You can find Clearblue on facebook and twitter and follow along with their newest updates.
Looking at the tests that were sent to me, I have found that they are easy to use and the results show up quickly - I also tried one and they really do work great! If you would like a chance to win a package of Clearblue's Ovulation Test kit and their Clearblue's Pregnancy Test kit, then enter below!
The Giveaway:
What: A Clearblue Ovulation and Pregnancy test kit

Review and Giveaway: Carmex Lip Balm
Edit: Using random.org to pick the winner....commenter #11 won! Congrats to Krazy Klingers!!! :)
I love summer! The kids are home from school, there is a lot of play time, and we are able to have fun outside in the warm weather (when it isn't raining...and we have had a good bit of rain lately!). We always put on sunscreen to protect our skin from the harmful rays of the sun...and one area that I don't want to forget to protect is my lips!
It is so important to me to protect my lips from the damage the sun can do to them. I do not like dry and peeling lips! Carmex recently contacted me and asked me to review 6 flavors of their lip balm - original, cherry, strawberry, vanilla, lime twist and pomegranate! My 4 year old was just as excited as I was to try these out! I really enjoyed the smell, a little bit of a tingly feeling, and taste of these lip balms - because, lets face it, a little bit does get on your tongue when you lick your lips! They went on smooth and I feel that they really do protect my lips with the SPF 15 that is in them...the pomegranate is even water resistant for up to 80 minutes! That would be a great flavor to take to the beach...we did not have a chance to try it out their yet! I don't know if I have a favorite flavor yet - so far, I like them all!
One of my readers will be able to try out the 6 flavors of Carmex lip balm and receive this fun tote too! (the lip balm will be in the little pouch when it arrives...at least mine was!)
The Giveaway:
Here are a few ways that you can choose to enter the giveaway - (do 1 or all 5!):
1. Entry #1 - tell me what your current favorite lip balm is
2. Entry #2 - tell me what Carmex flavor you would like to try first!
3. Entry #3 - "like" Carmex on Facebook (leave a separate comment telling me you did this)
4. Entry #4 - share this blog post with your friends on FB (leave a separate comment telling me you did this)
5. Entry #5 - "follow" my blog (leave a separate comment telling me you did this)
**This contest will close on Sunday, August 19th at 8pm EST. I will randomly pick a winner at that time. Good luck!
***Carmex supplied me with free lip balms to try out. however, all comments and reviews are completely mine.***

Shaklee: My Thoughts and a Giveaway
Update: Thank you to all who entered the giveaway...and I have news. Shaklee has extended their offer:
You can join Shaklee as a Member for FREE during the month of May! ($19.95 value), with ANY product purchase (no strings attached!)
The winner have been chosen, they are:
#5 Nonya
#13 Jessica P
#20 Maura - if you see this Maura, you have 48 hours to provide a way for me to contact you, otherwise, I will be choosing another winner!
Congrats!
Growing up, I had to take vitamins everyday. They were not just any vitamins. My parents (well, mom was in charge of the food, etc.) did not want us to take in artificial sweeteners, extra sugar or artificial colors and flavors, so we were given Shaklee children's vitamins...and that is what I am giving to my children today - naturally sweetened, colored with vegetable juice and naturally flavored! I feel good about feeding those vitamins to my kids, especially since they are getting 19 essential nutrients for healthy development. It may cost a little more than what you will find in the grocery store, but I believe that it is worth it!
Shaklee does not only provide vitamins for your family's health. You can also purchase cleaners to clean every part of your home that are natural, nontoxic, and they do not have harmful fumes or hazardous chemicals in them - which means that your children can easily help out with cleaning jobs around the house! One of their cleaners that I love is their Basic H2 Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate.
My sister sells Shaklee and wanted to offer a sample of the Basic H2 for you to try out. The sample has enough concentrate in it to make one 16oz. container of the All-Purpose cleaner AND one 16oz. container of the Windows/Mirrors/Fruit & Veggie cleaner! There will be THREE winners for the giveaway! How exciting is that! If you are chosen as the winner, you will need to be sure that you have 2 spray bottles that are empty so that you can make your solution! (I bought one at Lowe's for $0.98 - and it works great...just be sure to label it!).
Special Offers for EVERYONE:
1. You can join Shaklee as a Member for FREE during the month of April ($19.95 value), with ANY product purchase (no strings attached!)
2. The lifetime Membership will give you 15% off the SRP - you will always pay the lower price for any Shaklee product
3. You can see some other benefits that my sister listed out here on her blog
**If you want to make a purchase in April, I can send you a special link in an email which will give me a $25 credit towards any purchase that I will make...and you can still get a FREE lifetime membership when you make your purchase! You don't have to do this, but I figured that I would let you know about this offer for current member, like me!** Let me know if you would like an email!
The Giveaway:
THREE winners will receive a sample of the Basic H2! Here is how you can enter:
1. Entry #1: Go to my sister's Shaklee website and leave a comment telling me which cleaning product you would like to try!
2. Entry #2: Like Campbell Wholesome Living on FB and come back and leave a comment telling me that you did it!
3. Entry #3: Follow my sister's blog, "Campbell's Wholesome Living" and come back and leave a comment telling me that you did it!

Shaklee H2 Concentrate |
Basic H2 is one of the most versatile cleaners that I own. One 16oz. bottle of concentrate will make 48 gallons of super safe, really powerful all-purpose cleaners, because you only need to add 1/4 tsp. of the concentrate to 16oz. of water! That is definitely a frugal way to purchase cleaners for your home! There are two other dilutions that you can make from it: Add 1-2 drops to 16oz. of water and you have a cleaner for your windows, mirrors or you can use it to clean your fruits and veggies...it is safe and effective! If you have a really tough job, then add 1 1/2 tsp. of the concentrate to 16oz. of water, and you will instantly have an awesome degreaser. This cleaner is nontoxic, natural, doubly concentrated, and is safe for the environment. (If you don't win the giveaway, I would highly suggest you purchase some and try it out for yourself! It is one purchase that I do not think that you would regret!). Check this out: Shaklee Videos: Get Clean.

You Never Know Who You Might Meet!
This morning I went into our local food store to do some shopping. I decided to sit down in the cafe and look over my list before I went shopping...and no, I did not get a coffee or something to eat - just needed to regroup! There was one "gas deal" that I was thinking about doing - where you had to buy 4 items and then you would receive 20 cents off per gallon of gas that you would purchase. I only had 2 coupons toward 2 items, and I wished that I had 2 more coupons, so that I would get a really good deal. So, I decided to go to that aisle and look to see if someone happened to leave any coupons behind...once in a while that happens. I decided that I would do that deal only if I could find 2 more coupons.
When I got there, I encountered something that I have heard about, but have not actually met...a type of extreme couponer! She was grabbing some of the items and somehow we struck up a conversation. She asked me if I had coupons for the items that we were both interested in (and there were plenty of them - we were not "fighting" over them!). I told her that I only had 2 coupons. She told me that she had a lot of coupons, so she could give me 2 more! I could not believe my ears! She was an answer to a little prayer! So, I decided to tell her, "You are an answer to my prayers!" I felt kind of awkward saying that- but it was true! Her reply back to me was, "No one has ever said that to me before!" I responded back, "Well, you are!" She then asked me if I wanted some more coupons to do the deal again, so I said sure, and she gave me four more coupons - I think that she must have had about 50 or more of those coupons...no joke! She told me that she does not pay for her gas any more. She gets enough of the deals to pay for her gas, and then she keeps some of the products that she purchases and donates some of it to a local food bank. Between her husband and her, she was definitely getting free gas this weekend! Interesting concept, but not really for me...I was happy with the 2 deals that I was able to get...and 40 cents off on the gallon! :)
I was really excited - my little "prayer" was answered to "find" more coupons, and then I was able to tell that lady something that she never heard before - that SHE was an answer to a prayer...and I think that it was more important for her to hear that, than for me to get a couple of coupons.
What interesting thing had happened to you recently?
**Don't forget to enter the Crest/Oral-B giveaway - you can ALWAYS use a free toothbrush (and other products to take care of your teeth!), so why not enter!**

Review, Giveaway, and a chance to go to the 2012 Summer Olympics: Crest Pro-Health Plaque Control
*Update: Congrats to commenter #1 - Nonya, you will be receiving the new line of products from Crest and Oral-B!*
Easter is right around the corner! We celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Day, and along with the celebration comes a delicious meal and dessert with plenty of family gathered together. Dessert always includes items that contain some sort of sugar, and we do not want that sugar to stay on our teeth for too long...very bad for the teeth! Unfortunately, my teeth can attest to that!!!
Taking care of my children's teeth and my own teeth is very important to me. I do not want my kids to get cavities in their beautiful teeth and I do NOT want anymore cavities in mine! Growing up, I brushed my teeth, but one thing that I was missing was the flossing. I suppose I did not understand the purpose of flossing - I thought that brushing alone would be fine...well, maybe if my teeth did not touch each other! For the past few years, I have been consistent in flossing my teeth daily and I have not had any new cavities that have formed - YAY!
Crest has recently come out with a new product line which reduces plaque and helps prevent it from coming back...which to me means it may even help to decrease the chance of cavities from forming in my teeth. The new product line is called Crest and Oral-B Pro-Health Clinical Plaque Control - and it is pictured in the photo below. I received each item that is pictured in the photo and had a chance to try it out. The Oral-B Pro-Health Clinical Pro-Flex Toothbrush has a flexible head, so that it can get to each part of each tooth and it is definitely different - but I really liked it and I do feel that it does a great job of getting to each part of each tooth. I REALLY like Oral-B Glide Pro-Health Clinical Protection floss - it is my favorite kind! I feel that my teeth are definitely clean after flossing with it. I decided not to use the Crest Pro-Health Clinical Plaque Control Toothpaste since there is stannous fluoride in it - and there is a chance that it could produce surface staining of your teeth. It said that the stain would come off with adequate brushing and/or the help of a dentist, but I did not want to take that chance. I am also not able to use the Crest Pro-Health Clinical Rinse because of a reaction that I get from using it - but my husband is able to, and he seems to think that it works great! The funny thing is that my husband has a reaction from the rinse that I am able to use! LOL
Besides launching this new product line, Crest and Oral-B are hosting a sweepstakes where you can enter and win a trip to the 2012 Olympic Games in London this summer! (Sweepstakes ends 5/31/2012) I lived in England and went to school there for one year (many years ago) and would LOVE to go back and visit there with my family! It would be so cool to win that trip...and if I do not win, I hope that YOU do! You can sign up for the sweepstakes here.

Transition
I remember the "transition" time during labor...who could forget it! It was not easy - there was definitely a LOT of pressure...some/most would say pain, but I knew that it would not last forever. I was focused, concentrating on breathing correctly - and I knew what was about to happen very soon. My body was making its final preparations for the exit of my little baby out of my womb and into my arms - the beginning of his life in our family and world. It was worth every moment of that transition.
Recently, our family has been going through some new transitions - good ones (new job for Dawson!!!, T-ball starting up, new schedules, etc.), but I have to admit that I am tired. I am realizing the importance of keeping myself focused and preparing myself properly so that I am not as tired during the day and can get things accomplished that I need/want to during the day...not just trying to "make it" through the day. Earlier to bed is a must...so that earlier to rise is not as hard!
So, here is to another great day - and to trying to get to bed earlier tonight!

Giveaway: Crest and Oral-B Oral Care for Kids
**UPDATE: Using Random.org, the winning comment was generated...Commenter #2 was chosen - congrats to TCC! Stay tuned for an upcoming giveaway for adult oral care!**
With Easter almost here, I am sure that kids are already thinking about the Easter egg hunts that they will partake in and the candy that they will indulge in! I remember waking up on Easter morning to an Easter basket filled with delicious chocolates, jelly beans, marshmallow eggs, peeps...so delicious, yet it can be a nightmare for your teeth!
As a mom, I limit how much candy my children consume. I teach them that sticky candy is worse for your teeth than chocolate or a brownie or cookie...and we throw out or give away that "sticky candy." However, sugar is still landing on those precious teeth when they eat a chocolate candy, and I do not want my kids to go through what I have gone through with the many fillings that I have had to receive! So, my husband and I do our best to educate our children on proper brushing techniques...and we are also starting with flossing too!
Here are some tips for Healthier Oral Care Habits from Dr. Jennifer Salzer:
Better Candy Options: Try sticking to sugar-free lollipops and hard candies – these treats stimulate saliva helping to prevent dry mouth. A dry mouth allows plaque to build up on teeth faster, leading to an increased risk of decay and cavities
My children were sent some new oral care items to try out - they LOVED having new toothbrushes. My 6 year old LOVES his new spin brush - and they have a new excitement about brushing their teeth again. They also LOVE that Toy story is on the outside of their toothpaste tube and on their new flossers!

Offer Choices: Have plenty of oral care supplies on hand for your kids in the flavors and designs they’ll be excited to use to encourage proper oral hygiene. My top picks include Oral-B Stages for younger kids and Crest and Oral-B Pro-Health FOR ME for kids eight and up.
Mirror Mirror: Encourage your kids to brush in front of a mirror; it will help them see spots they may otherwise miss. And to help keep track of their oral care routine enlist the help of a brushing chart to record each time your child brushes.
My Review:
These are the age appropriate products that my children received to try out - they LOVED them! |
Can you tell that someone is excited about Toy Story flossers! :) That's my Smiles! |

Freschetta: "Rally for Real Pizza"
If you have ever purchased frozen pizza, you know that some taste like "cardboard" and other taste so-so, and then others taste pretty good - they are worth purchasing again! I think you know what I mean, well, if you have purchased a frozen pizza before!
I am occasionally given items to review, in this case I was not. All opinions are completely mine.
Well, Freschetta pizza is hosting a "Rally for Real Pizza" on their facebook page. They believe that your frozen pizza deserves to taste great, almost like homemade.
How can you take part in this and what can you win? Head on over to Freschettas facebook page and "like" it. Then, you can submit a photo to a Rally Mosaic on the FB page and be entered to win a Freschetta pizza! Each week, 100 winners will be selected to receive 5 Freschetta pizzas! Pretty cool! Then, on March 30, 10 winners will be selected to receive a year supply of Freschetta pizza. Sounds like a plan to me!
Wouldn't you love to win a few of these? |

Old Fashioned Homemade Pancakes...and Freezer Cooking!
It is the way that God created me!!!
I LOVE to try new recipes. All.the.time! The good news - we get to taste a variety of flavors. The bad news - is there really any bad news associated with this? :)
This past Tuesday was Pancake Day! YUM!!! So, I decided to make pancakes for dinner! The kids were so excited - so was I!
I tried a new recipe that is called Old Fashioned Homemade Pancakes that I found on Pocket Change Gourmet. I have been looking for a recipe that would produce light and fluffy pancakes, and I believe that I found it! The pancakes came out great - EVERYONE LOVED them and the boys asked me to make them again and again! The original recipe only made 6 large pancakes, so I doubled it. The recipe that I used is below.
Do you know what else I did? I decided to take their suggestion, and prepare a few of the pancake mixes ahead of time. To do this, simply take a ziploc bag, pour the dry ingredients into the bag, seal it up and use a sharpie to write the wet ingredients that need to be added the the dry mix on the outside of the bag (be sure to date and label the bag with the name of the recipe!). I labeled the bag BEFORE I poured in the dry ingredients - it is a little easier to write on a flat surface - and used a sandwich sized bag! I made up five of these bags, then put the sealed bags into a large gallon ziploc bag. To keep the ingredients fresh, I will place this bag into my freezer, mark it on my freezer inventory sheet...and I just completed some "freezer cooking/preparation." Then, when I feel like making pancakes, I will save myself a few minutes of time by simply grabbing one of these already prepared bags of dry ingredients!

Check out this recipe:
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 Tablespoons sugar
- 2 Tablespoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk {a little less or a little more is fine depending on the consistency you like}
- 1/4 cup (4 T) oil - I used canola
Dry Ingredients
Wet Ingredients
Instructions
- In a large measuring cup, whisk together dry ingredients
- Add wet ingredients and mix well
- Heat griddle and spray with non-stick cooking spray
- Pour batter onto hot griddle
- Cook until golden brown, about 3 minutes, flip and cook other side
- Note: batter makes 3 cups - use 1/4 cup for each pancake, it will make 12 large pancakes - these will spread out a little bit while they cook, so be sure they have a little bit of "room to grow"!
