I'm Picking Up A Baby Bumblebee...OUCH!

Brady LOVES letters - he loves to say his letters, the sounds that they make and think of words that start with the sounds. He really amazes me - he is only 28 months! I have to say that the Leapfrog videos have really been a factor in his love for letters - especially the videos, The Letter Factory and Talking Words Factory. They are fun videos to watch and definitely learning videos - I even enjoy watching them!

When we are in the front yard, he enjoys going to the back of our cars, and spells the names of the cars out loud - he usually touches each letter while spelling.

Yesterday, he was over by one of the cars, spelling out the name - I was by the front door of the house, because we were going inside after he was done spelling. Well, he came away from the car and said, "Finger hurt." After asking him questions, I have came to realize that he saw a bee (I think a yellow jacket) and he grabbed the bee(!) and the bee stung him! Poor little guy!

I looked at his finger and saw a little red mark and his finger was swelling up! So, I gave him some Tylenol, and after his nap, his finger looked SO much better!

Oh, the curiosity of a toddler! Hopefully, he will not grab a bee again!

Soooooooooooooooo cute!

I think my favorite part is the fact that you only found out about it because he said "finger hurt" rather than starting to cry.

Fuzzy-Wuzzy had a similar encounter with a wasp last month. He was in a tunnel at the playground and was saying "Hi, stinkbug!" There were lots of gnats and some ants and other bugs at the park. I couldn't see inside the tunnel from where I was, but it didn't occur to me that there could be a dangerous bug... until he started crying and saying that the stinkbug hurt him!

Those videos are great. Fuzzy-Wuzzy watches them irregularly... he knows most of his letters, but I don't think all of them yet.

Ooh, ouch! We love those videos at our house and have seen all of them many, many times.

Well at least you know that he is not allergic to bees!
How dear is that. It makes for a memorable bee sting!
